Commissioned by University of Cumbria and Co-Created with Martin Hylton (Gateway Studio Project).
Debut Performance: Stanwix Theatre, Carlisle
31st October – 3rd November 2018
‘Yellow’ was loosely inspired by Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s (1892 short story) ‘The Yellow Wallpaper’, created as an extension of Martin’s initial research with Northern Stage and Gateway Studio Project.
In response to the characters and recurring themes in the story Martin & Zoë are worked with second year BA (Hons) Performing Arts undergraduates to devise an original dance theatre work in Autumn 2018.
The emotive dance theatre work explored how our environment affects the mind and relationships in the performance space.
With a large moving set – designed and made by the performers themselves – this innovative whirlwind of a show explored dark themes of isolation, relationships and the mind.
